After the drying equipment leaves · Columbus, GA

The drying equipment just left your Columbus home. Here is what happens next.

The leak is fixed and the structure is dry, but the walls are open and the floors are bare. The week between drying and reconstruction is where a rebuild gets off to a good start or a slow one.

The first week, in order.

Get the paperwork together first: the drying company's final moisture readings, photos, list of what was removed and dry-out sign-off, plus the plumber's invoice. If you filed a claim, keep every carrier estimate and letter in one folder and share them with us as they arrive. Take your own photos of the open walls and removed flooring, and dig out any older photos that show the trim, flooring and paint colors you had.

Then schedule the reconstruction walkthrough. The sooner we measure every room and compare it to the carrier's estimate, the sooner the scope can be written, approved and started. Keep the affected rooms closed off in the meantime, and set aside any leftover flooring, tile or paint in the garage. It helps with matching.

Columbus also has a lot of rental homes. When a rental takes a water loss, getting it rebuilt and back on the market matters, so we work directly with owners and property managers to scope the job clearly and keep it moving. We hold Georgia GC license GCCO008663 and schedule site visits in Columbus regularly from our Fayetteville office.

Your first-week checklist

Six things to do before the rebuild starts.

Each one makes the scope faster to write and easier to approve.

Collect the dry-out paperwork

Moisture readings, photos, the list of what was removed and the sign-off. The rebuild is matched to what came out.

Save every carrier document

Estimates, revisions and letters in one folder, shared with us as they arrive. The scope is built to the approved estimate.

Take your own photos

Every open wall and bare floor now, plus any older photos of the rooms for matching finishes.

Keep the rooms closed off

Open wall cavities collect dust. Keep doors shut, keep pets and kids out, and don't store items against bare framing.

Save leftover materials

Extra planks, tile, trim or paint from the original build make matching much easier.

Book the walkthrough and start on selections

We measure, compare to the estimate and document anything missing. If you want to upgrade flooring, cabinets or fixtures, say so early so it can be priced as a change order.

Scope of work

What we do, and what we don't.

Peridot Assist is a licensed Georgia general contractor. We perform reconstruction.

We do not perform water extraction, structural drying, mold remediation, smoke or odor treatment, or emergency board-up. That work is completed by licensed specialty firms before we begin. We start once a property has been dried, cleared, and released for rebuild.

Columbus questions, answered.

The drying company just left. What should I do?
Keep the drying company's paperwork and your carrier's estimate, take photos of the open areas, and call us to schedule the reconstruction walkthrough.
How soon should I schedule the walkthrough?
As soon as the drying company has signed off. The walkthrough is what starts the scope, and the scope is what starts the rebuild.
What happens after the scope is approved?
A project manager is assigned and we meet to go over the schedule and your selections. Then the rebuild moves room by room: insulation and drywall, flooring, cabinets, trim, paint and final cleaning, with progress in your client portal.
Do you work on rental properties?
Yes. We work with owners and property managers on insurance repairs and turnovers.
Your office is in Fayetteville. Do you really work in Columbus?
Yes. We have completed and active jobs in Columbus, and our team schedules site visits and work there regularly.
Are you licensed?
Yes. Peridot Assist holds Georgia General Contractor License GCCO008663.
